I created two new murals recently. This time I had two walls to work with – and the goal was to celebrate all things Philly. Before the painting day, I did a lot of research that led me through some interesting cultural touchstones (hello, Patti Smith and Hitchbot), and the employees at this independently owned firm also shared some great ideas. In some cases, I implemented images right on the wall in real time as they made the suggestions.

It was an incredibly positive experience for me as an artist. Not only did the client trust me to deliver without much planning, but being in the office was welcoming (I even met an adorableCocker Spaniel that was really interested in what I was doing).

I drew these two murals in two half days – totally freehand – with my favorite oil paint markers.
