A collector recently commissioned me to create a large drawing of the Philadelphia skyline for his home in Northern Liberties. The illustrated panorama measures 18×40 inches and showcases the view from his home. What makes this especially interesting is that the image also features the new Comcast building as it will look when construction wraps up in the next several years.
To create this long, thin piece, I used acid-free paper that’s available in a roll and sized it to fit the space. The result is a hand-drawn piece of Philadelphia history that uses line and shadow to emphasize urban life. Because the room in which it’s featured is quite bright, the client opted for special glass that offers UV protection to protect the art for many years to come.
