I’ve been collecting old wood to create new paintings that are focused on poems. Many of the pieces are boxes and drawers that I like to use symbolically to signify the way we often keep things contained. There is something striking visually to me about having viewers need to look inside some of the pieces to see the messages. 

Other pieces are painted on interesting wood, stone and other materials. The materials are as much of the art as are the words.
